The season of busy! (and how to survive it as a non-superhuman…)

Well, it’s been a busy year – the day job, life in general, and of course, editing Book 4 in The Change Series, Change of Fate! Sadly, Change of Fate will be delayed until the New Year now, as I’ve been tinkering with the storyline to make it the best read of the series to date. And tinkering takes time…

And my tinkering has, of course, meant that I have missed the deadline to have it out to you, my readers, this year.

But, as I know you’ll all be busy with the Spring season soon (if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere) or gearing up to hibernate (if you’re in the Northern Hemisphere), and then super busy in the lead up to Christmas, hopefully you won’t mind as much until the book comes out in 2020. Especially when, however, you will a get a fourth book in the New Year that has so many big reveals 🙂

Looking back at my posts, I can see the last one was actually in July this year – which shows just how busy I’ve been!

I think John Lennon said it best:

Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

In fact, life has been so busy that at night I’m using audio books as a way to fall asleep! The Magical Far Away Tree, Complete Works of Sherlock Holmes, and other classics – seriously! Put an audio book on, turn it low, and let your brain tune into the words so it will stop trying to keep working and presto! You’ll be asleep before you know it!

I discovered this after a very restless few nights when I kept trying to do paperwork in my mind, sort through resourcing issues and more – my brain just wanted to keep going, and the usual ‘Thunderstorm’ soundtrack was not doing it for me.

It is also hard, I think, to acknowledge that we can’t be super-humans all the time to get all the work we have listed down for ourselves done by the time we want it to. Something’s gotta give (I also think that is is a movie title…) and it might be quality, time, or even you.

So this season, I’m not trying to be a super-human, and ensure I do all my physical training, get promoted at work, finish another book and cach-up with everyone I know on Facebook.

Nope, this season, I’m focusing on achieving where I can, staying healthy, getting plenty of sleep, catching up with others when it works in well and progressively working my way through the final edits of Book 4.

Balance is the key (insert Yoda phrase here of your choice).

And to anyone who manages to do all the above, with kids…you’re my definition of a super-human!

Happy reading,

JJ
