Why write this book?

German Alpine mountains“If there’s a book you really want to read, but it hasn’t

been written yet, then you must write it.”

-Toni Morrison

So I thought this quote was an excellent place to start for my first blog post, as it’s an excellent statement and is probably at the heart of why I decided to write the Change of Chaos series, and go through all the effort to publish them as an emerging author.
And it’s also a great quote to hold up to the masses (which started with my parents and friends) who all asked, ‘Gee, what made you decide to do that?’

It’s simple. Because I love stories – books, movies, word of mouth adventure. Because I love stories of action and escapades, strong female heroines who don’t take crap and who can kick ass. Because I always had a story or two floating around in my head from the moment my dad made me read books that didn’t have pictures. And although I wrote bits and pieces down over the last couple of decades, it was only in the last three years that I realised the secret to getting started as a writer…

Just get it down. Don’t worry if it’s terrible on the first go round (that’s what revising is for), but…Get. It. Down.
I’ll do another whole post on this at some point, so moving on, that’s how it happened. I got it all down.

The first book took a year to write.
The second took five weeks.
The third took six months.

And then I started off on the publishing route (which will also be another whole post by itself) and here I am, counting down to my first book launch in February 2018.

But, at the base of it, I’m writing this series because I wanted to. Because I love stories, and because I really wanted to read these books.

I hope you have a very merry Christmas…and read a lot of books.
